Nicole by OPI, in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products, launches 14 new nail lacquers inspired by ABC’s award-winning comedy, Modern Family. The nail line features shades created to capture the show’s colorful personalities, from a classic taupe named after family patriarch Jay, to a sparkly pink hue fitting for toddler Lily.
“Modern Family is not only one of the funniest shows on television, it features a great ensemble cast of rich characters that inspired a range of shades, from pastel hues like sea foam green and periwinkle to brighter colors of cobalt and red-violet,” remarks Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Nicole by OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “From studious Alex to bombshell Gloria, to classic (and neurotic) Claire, to flirty Haley, there are shades to represent each of these uniquely fabulous women – and everyone else in the blended family.
“The Nicole consumer embraces the same spirit of diversity and individuality that’s apparent on the show,” explains Weiss-Fischmann. “The colors inspired by Modern Family offer a perfect way to express that spirit!”Modern Family is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television and licensed through Fox Consumer Products. Jeffrey Godsick, President of Fox Consumer Products added, “Modern Family is a series that has a massive following. In partnering with Nicole by OPI, we’re not only able to reach our show’s large fan base, but deliver a product that captures the trend-forward elements and unique characteristics of the series.”

When I first heard about this fun collaboration between Nicole by OPI and Modern Family, I was excited and surprised- nail polish is not what I usually think of when I watch the show, but from now on I will be thinking of these polishes, each named for a character on the show ;-)
First up is What's The Mitch-uation? This polish is a beautiful blue shimmer that reminds me of one of my favorite OPI's (Into The Night). 3 layers shown:
Next is A Phil's Paradise. a pewter fleck-shimmer polish that I love, not only because it's gorgeous, but because it is named after my favorite character on the show-Phil Dunphy. 3 layers:
Then there's Basking In Gloria, a red-violet shimmer. 3 layers shown:
Then we have our second Gloria-themed polish, Back In My Gloria Days. This purple polish has a glass fleck finish with a slight pink sparkle. 3 layers:
Then there's Candid Cameron, a shimmery, saturated teal that has a deeper teal duochrome flash to it- so pretty! Fun fact: My husband and I joke that we are just like the Mitch-Cameron couple on the show (hmm only a major difference would be that we aren't 2 guys). We would watch their little arguments and say things like, "That's so US!". Come to find out though, we both thought we were Cameron in the dynamic of our relationship. I was like, "No way! YOU are a MITCH!" ;-)
Luke of The Draw is a black jelly base with silver glitters of different sizes. Similar to OPI "Metallic 4 Life" but I seemed to like this one better. It applied nice and smoothly for a larger chunk style glitter. 3 layers:
Next up is I Do De-Claire! This one is a frosty pink shimmer polish. I know we are supposed to hate anything frosty, as it calls to mind the polishes of the 80's and such, but- I don't know. I kind of like this. I'm not sure why! It's just pretty and pinky. 3 layers:
A Like-Haley Story is a hot, hot pink with a super subtle shimmer. I love this one. 2 layers:
Then there's Am I Making Myself Claire? (which, if you've watched the show, you may say- "I hope not" ;) A pale, violet-leaning pastel creme. Fantastic formula on this one...only 2 layers needed (no streaking either!):
I then put Haley Good Lookin'... on top of Am I Making Myself Claire? This clear based glitter polish has teeny pink glitters and larger holographic pink hex glitters. One layer shown on top here:
My Jay Or The Highway is perfectly named for the family's straightforward, no nonsense patriarch. This pretty taupe creme went on easily with just 2 layers:
I then topped My Jay Or The Highway with She's Lily Something, a pinky-orange flecked base with cute glitter stars. The base is very comparable to OPI's Nothin Mousie Bout It, but with stars instead of hearts! You need this one if you missed out on the Minnie version. I had to do some fishing for the stars, but they were fairly easy to get out of the bottle. One layer shown on top:
Next up is the super Springy Stand By Your Manny. This pale pastel blue is infused with silver shimmer. I found this to be very sheer, and needed 4 layers to build it up to how it looks here. It's totally worth it though, because it is such a fresh looking color:
Last but not least is Alex By The Books, a minty green creme. I can not get enough of these types of greens for Spring. 3 layers shown:
In Conclusion: Such a fun idea for a polish collection! I love the silly names that they chose and this is a really great, well rounded collection. I think Candid Cameron, Stand By Your Manny, and Alex By The Books are my favs! Which ones did you like?
